It is always difficult for a parent to gauge when their child is ready for music lessons, but there is no correct age. It all depends on the child. You do not want to get your child started too early, however, waiting too long is a mistake as well. You should be able to tell how your child is responding and adapting to music lessons after their first few classes.

Here are three tips to consider:

1. Pay attention to your child's performance in school. As soon as your child begins to perform and show interest in music, you can begin to consider the option of music lessons.

2. If your child approaches you and asks you to begin sending them to music lessons, listen to your child and consider whether or not you are in a position to send your child to music lessons. Discuss music lessons with your child and, if they are adamant about starting, look into the options available to you.

3. Do your homework and contact a few teachers. They are professionals and have first hand experience with children of all ages, making thier opinion valuable.

As soon as your child is willing and ready, make sure that he/she can get involved!
