Intense Punk Drummers of the Past Ten Years or so.

At the beginning of the list is a moderately new percussionist, many can argue that he isn't truly a punk percussionist and more of a metal one but I disagree, it's true that he likes to calm it down and do his doom style fills but deep down he's genuinely a punk-
Steve Jocz -AKA "Stevo"Born July 23, 1981. He is most recognized for his percussionist in the Canadian pop punk ensemble Sum 41. A tremendously fast and awkward percussionist, he can change the feel of a song instantly. Only one of the minority of punk drummers that is able to slide in cheesy metal rolls and get away with handling it. He is also notorious for his toilet comedy which is a sure indicator of punk maturity/immaturity- you call it!
Travis BarkerBorn 14/11/1975. Perhaps best recognized for his percussionist in Blink 182 he's also banged away for countless other bands. Travis sits in at no 4 not simply because of his impressive speed and timing but also because of his eclectic assortment of styles from Hip-hop to Punk, Pop to even Country.
Tr Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright III)Born December 9, 1972. He is part of the original (pretty much) 3 piece that make up Green Day. Leaning much closer to the pop part of punk as a percussionist, Tr positively helped Green Day reach the universal audience that drove them to megastars. If he been yet another, breakneck speed, same old drummer the ensemble would have toiled to appeal to such a large marketplace.
Josh FreeseBorn on December 25, 1972. He is most recognized for his percussionist in The Vandals but is capable of listing countless other bands and achievements. A breakneck speed percussionist capable of slowing it right down and merge with the top and has recorded for Guns N' Roses, Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne as if to prove the point. Josh's individual records at times demonstrate a measured, more refrained drumming technique demonstrating that a fast pace isn't the lot although for my part I prefer the Vandals sound.
Erik Sandin-AKA "Smelly"Born on July 29, 1966. Erik is the permanent percussionist for NOFX. Erik was an original part of the ensemble although left 2 years after in 1983. In 1986 Sandin was convinced to re-unite with the ensemble but suffered from heroin addiction until 1992 when thankfully he checked into a rehab centre and has been clean ever since. Whilst Erik maybe not the top of many people's list, for everybody who loves the perfection of NOFX then there is no equal.
