It is often times difficult for a parent to decide what age should they should send their child for music lessons. Of course, the answer to this question is an important one. Here are three tips to consider:

1. Take cues from your child's performance in school. As your child starts to perform well and show that they are ready to get involved with music, you can then begin to consider this option.

2. When they ask. Is your child begging you to get involved with music lessons? If so, you need to listen to them and consider everything they are saying. Some people find their five year old asking for lessons. Other children wait until they are older. No matter when your child expresses and interest make sure you are willing to move forward at that time.

3. Call a teacher or school and ask them what they think. You may be surprised at how much information an experienced instructor can give you. Getting a professional opinion is a great place to start.

So, when are you going to send your child for music lessons? The tips above should help you to best answer this question. Music is a great thing. Make sure your child gets involved when he/she is ready and willing.
