A Ferdinand Porsche A Quick History Lesson

Ferdinand Porsche was the founder of Porsche he was into developing aeroplanes and tanks and racing cars and he had many patents that were in his name. However in the war he was inturned by the allies and so for a few years he was not able to do much in the way of engineering. When Ferdinand Porsche was released he decided that he and his son would go out and build a sports car. The convertible Porsche 356 was born and Ferdinand and his son Ferry Porsche were very happy however Ferdinand Porsche had played a big role in the development of the Volkswagen and so the sports car that he was building with his son was very similar to this.
The Porsche 356 was born and as I mentioned before it was similar in the sense that it had the same 4 cylinder engine and that it was also mounted at the rear of the car just like the Volkswagen. The trouble was with the Porsche 356 was that it did not have much performance it wa only producing 40 brake horse power and a maximum top speed of 87 miles per hour and I think that was with a bit of a push from the wind however the body of the 356 was designed by Erwin Komenda who was the master of anything sheet metal and aerodynamics, he designed a sleek and stylish body of the 936 which has set the Porsche family up with a beautiful looking sports car for many years to come. They first made the 356 as a convertible but then went on to make it hard top which is by far the better of the the two cars.
The 911 soon became an easily recognisable car with its sloping bonnet and the frog eye lights all the lines of the bodywork were so elegant and well this design has become the foundation of Porsches design right through to the modern day 911 and to be honest a lot of people do not like the Porsche's iconic design but still the design lives on.
In the 1970's and the 1980's Porsche ran into a lot of financial difficulties as the designers were trying put new designs into action and well the public didn't like it The 924 Porsche was developed with Volkswagen and the 928 for that matter were just not fulfilling the expectations of the public.
So when the 1990's came around and Porsche were still just about clinging on to their business and they soon realised that there old design shape is something that is timeless and they decided to go back to that and well Porsche became very profitable and this is only because they realised that the Porsche features were timeless. There is 40 or so people now working in the Porsche design team for future developments for the long standing 911. Some of these designs include the 911 GTi which is a powerful sports car and racing car. The New Boxster was also released and this managed to open up a whole new line of Porsche models totally independent from the 911 range.
