If you are considering buying a new car in the near future, you could benefit from a few new car purchase tips that will put you in a position to avoid being misled and bamboozled by over ambitious car salesmen, thus making the whole new car buying experience safer and more pleasurable.

How can you tell the good car dealers from the more unscrupulous ones? The truth is that for many reasons it is impossible to tell them apart. So the only way to protect yourself, is to acquire as much information about your intended purchase and the ploys the dealers use, to make you spend more than you need.

Let us start with the timing of the purchase. You must be prepared to make several trips to as many dealerships as you can. The best time to go is when there are not many other buyers around, this is usually mid week, things are slow and the sales teams are keen to make a deal. The other optimal time for visiting
new car showrooms, is when the dealers are anxious to fulfill their monthly sales quotas, this usually means around the end of the month.

Never be tempted to answer the question: "How much can you afford in monthly repayments?" This is a classical ploy where the dealer can make a few extra thousands if you fall for it. If you have any sense, you will have made all the financial arrangements before you go to the car lot. Make sure that you arrive at the
final on the road price before going on to anything else.

Do not sign any papers that the salesman may put in front of you before the deal is finalized. By the same token, do not leave any documents with the dealer when you go for a test drive. This is not necessary.

The wisdom I wish to pass on to you, comes from buying many new and used cars and vans for my own use over the years. If I'd known then how to avoid being manipulated by over predatory salesmen, I would have a lot more money in my pocket now.
