What you Need to Know on Poster Printing

A big thank you to modern design software and online printing companies, poster printing is now within reach. Because it is now easier to print than before, almost everyone can design their own poster. However, before you can create a truly engrossing poster, you need to carefully choose the design and color you would use. It is especially important to choose the right colors. Colors, after all, tell a lot about your material.
Painters and artists use color in many varied ways. In nature, flowers exude brilliant and stunning colors while the rainbow breaks white to seven different colors. In business, colors make marketing materials alive and exceptionally compelling.
The 19th century was the tipping point for color advancement. Back then, colored materials were hand colored by the artist using techniques used since the Renaissance. Years later, the steam driven printing press introduced by Gutenberg and the photo reproduction technique revolutionized the printing process, which later was used to conceptualize the computers we use today.
Today’s color printing is never like before. What used to take days even months to produce in the past now takes hours to print. Technology today has indeed lifted modern civilization way over the Stone Age. Gone are the days of laborious printing process.
Color printing these days is done through offset lithography. This process involves coating a rubber drum with the color and water, which is used to create the image. Once the image is produced, it is turned over to the offset drum. From there the image is moved to the paper or other medium. This printing process makes it easy to transfer color pictures.
Another printing technology is fast growing these days. This time it uses more advanced technology in color printing. This is digital printing. Digital printing uses high end technology that allows you to print full-color documents with high resolution graphics and text in such a short time. There are two types of digital color printing: purely electronic which uses no plates and toner based ink on digital presses, and direct image printing which uses conventional ink and plates to print materials.
If you can afford full color printing, why not use it in your posters. Colors will make your poster more vibrant and active. But there are some things you must take in consideration when printing your poster. This includes:
- Choose only the appropriate color in your poster. Keep in mind that colors have meanings such as black which is often associated with authority and power; white for purity; green for generosity and good luck; and orange for fun, energy, and warmth.
- Carefully resized your image. When you ready to print posters, remember that your poster will be much larger than the computer screen. So, all your images must have enough resolution so they can be enlarge easily without the problem of image distortion.
