Selling through catalogs means selling through pictures really. If your images are not showing the best side of your products and services then that is the cause why it is not having any effect. People shop by eye first, so make sure that you print high quality, high resolution pictures of your products in your catalogs. If the pictures look great, there is no reason why your catalogs can't have a little effect on your readers.

• Are you giving the right information? - You should also see if you are giving the right information about your products in your catalogs. Is all the information in the product description in there? Does it give enough information for readers to judge if it is good or bad? Sometimes people do not respond to product catalogs because there is just not enough information. The catalog might say it is great, but the specifications of the product like the price, the guarantee, the variations and other technical aspects might not be there. So make sure you print all the information necessary for people to judge your products.

• Is it easy to respond to? - Another common problem in catalog printing is that some catalogs do not give an easy way to order or avail of the products. If there are no easy ways to order, such as a mail in order form, a postcard, an online address or even a telephone number, then the readers will have less of an inclination to respond. If ordering is hard work, it never really is worth it, so the catalogs have no effect still. That is why it is important that you always include some way of easy response within the color catalogs themselves.

• Are you printing them right? - You should also ask yourself if the catalogs are printed alright. Do they look like professional color catalogs, or do they seem like simple childish art projects? Or you might be selling cheap items and yet giving away your catalogs to people who think they are too rich to notice such mundane items. When this happens your catalogs will indeed have no effect. That is why it is crucial to research your market and give your color catalogs to the locations where your true target market resides. Pay attention and see who are the best people who will listen to your catalogs and respond.
