I'm writing to express interest and apply for the XXXXXX position. After reviewing the requirements and qualifications, I'm confident that I can exceed company expectations as an employee.
My previous coursework at Fairleigh Dickinson University and vast experience in the retail industry has given me a tremendous foundation for the marketing and client relations fields. Through signage/marketing campaigns, market research, and client and employee resolution I have found reacting to client needs and wants appropriately is key when successfully executed. I'm also familiar with fulfilling sales goals and target objectives through my retail management and telephone marketing experience. Direct interaction with consumers and clients has equipped me to quickly and effectively resolve client issues and complaints. In addition, I've been fortunate to have had the experience of representing several of some of the most successful companies by means of field promotional marketing. These new innovative marketing strategies put me in direct contact with clients in order to promote new products and services as well as inform and sell potential clients. These crucial areas are where I have attained much knowledge in consumer/client habits as well as employer expectations. My quick and creative thinking, critical decision making and multi-tasking capabilities are just a few skills that clients and employers alike have come to appreciate. I'm a firm believer in accountability, strong work ethics, and client satisfaction.
I've provided my resume for your review. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to further discuss my background and desire to work for XXXXXX. Please feel free to contact me via phone (XXX*XXX*XXXX) or via email at DerickBusiness@yahoo.com
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Today
many big businesses are having a difficult time with how the public
views them. A huge part of the reason is that there has been so much
publicity regarding the large salaries and benefits that the corporate
executive officers get paid. It is bad publicity to have heads of
corporations making millions of dollars when the average stock holder
is getting minimal dividends. Having the salaries and fringe benefits
of corporate leaders exposed through the media makes the average wage
earner angry. In this day and age of many people living from pay check
to pay chick news that one person is making millions of dollars is not
well received.
This publicity has lead to many large
corporations down sizing their mid management positions. The news that
suddenly middle aged workers or people close to retirement losing their
jobs does not bode well for the company either. For this reason many
companies are hiring public relation firms to help improve their image
and to insure that the products or services the company produces will
be better received by consumers. Most companies have publicity or
advertising departments, but the public relations firms are independent
of the corporation and help the company understand and improve their
image.
Because the public
relations firm is independent from the corporation, they are freer to
point out faults and to recommend areas of improvement. The consultants
of the firm do not have to be concerned about losing their position if
they point out things that need to be changed. Many times employees
will see areas where improvements should be made, however they do not
want to insult the corporate leaders for fear of losing their jobs.
Many
public relations firms will provide consultations for short periods of
time. They may be called in to help a company over come a crisis or to
avoid a crisis. Many times they will work in conjunction with the
advertising department to help develop favorable ways of changing the
image the public has of the company or to shed a more positive spin on
past poor publicity. The shorter the period of time the firm actually
works with the corporation the more effective they are. If a firm works
for too long with a company they may develop the same biases as the
employees have. Getting skilled professionals that are not profiting
from the goods or services of a company is a great way to have a clear
picture of what needs to change or stay the same. In many ways public
relations firms are a way of giving a company an unbiased report card.
