You hear it all the time about list building, "The money's in the list." Nothing could be further from the truth. The business of direct response marketing has always been about collecting contact information like physical mailing addresses, phone numbers, and with the internet especially, e-mail addresses. The problem most internet marketers face is that they don't know how to build a list quickly, easily, and cost effectively.

If you're planning on building one through SEO, it's going to be a slow process... especially if you don't have a couple grand per month to burn on outsourcing content creation and link building. If you win a competitive keyword over, sure, you can get gobs of traffic fast and build your list. That's not going to happen for months or even years in some cases. All the while your family starves, and that's not good at all.

Instead you need to be looking at more guerrilla ways to build your list. One way is by joining JV giveaways, even though these aren't going to be the highest quality leads and they're only going to be in one market, the internet marketing niche. Point is, even though these aren't going to be the highest quality leads, now you have a list to leverage in joint venture partnerships. When you don't have money to burn on advertising and SEO, joint venture deals are the way to fast listbuilding. After having a list of 500-1000, you can leverage it to rapidly grow your list to 10,000 subscribers or more and start making some serious money.

On the other side of the spectrum, you have to look at the quality of leads. The best leads you're going to get are proven buyers. So although you'd grow a smaller list fast, it'll be a quality one if you use this method. It's simply by having an affiliate program and capturing buyers to your list. Little $7-$17 products work well for this. The lower the price, the more people you're generally going to get on your list.

Keep in mind, however, that the bigger marketers like to promote higher priced products. So you might consider growing a list of $27-$97 buyers. It's entirely up to you. You'll likely sacrifice numbers in terms of the size of your list, but size isn't everything. Time and time again you see very small lists out-buy giant lists that are 10-20 times bigger.
