It is developed on Unreal Engine 3 and is published by 2k Boston/2k Australia. On august 21, 2007, BioShock was released in north America, and just three days later in Europe and Australia. Adam, Eve, and money are special resources in the BioShock. With Adam, mutations can be brought. Eve acts as a fuel for plasmids and money is used to purchase items and weapons and to pay-off debts.

Developer calls BioShock as a spiritual successor to the System Shock games. BioShock is highly acclaimed by reviewers all over. Several Game of the Year" awards have been given to the BioShock by many gaming websites like GameSpy, GameSpot, etc. BioShock has also received Best Xbox 360 game, Best PC game, Best shooter game and many other self-dictating awards from the gamer's communities.
