Open Question: How should I go about writing to a company hoping they can offer me a position to work for their company?
i graduated from university this year, I did a Computer Aided Design (CAD) degree, which was related more so to the Automotive sector. Now that the industry is on the decline I am having difficulty trying to find work for that field.
What I have decided to do is to send a Cover Letter along with my CV stating that I am eager to work for their company, and how it would not only be rewarding for me but for them in the long term. Has anyone got any ideas how I should go about structuring it out, should I sound like I am really desperate to work for the company or should I appear to be really really confident that they can offer me this position. I would just like to make clear this wouldn't be a reply to an advertisement but this would be a way for me to seek and hopefully make them create an opening for me.
My current Cover Letter that I use as a template is below, I normally insert a quote from the advert that I am replying to just before the beginning of the 4th paragraph so that it seems like I have made the cover letter specifically for that advert. If you can guide me on how I should adjust my Cover Letter I would massively appreciate it.

"This is in reference to the position of Graduate CAD Technician advertised at fish4.co.uk on Nov 12th, 2008.
I recently graduated from the Birmingham City University with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) majoring in Computer Aided Automotive Design. While studying this program I have acquired skills that can be efficiently utilized in your available position.
I was heavily involved with CAD systems, specifically Dassault Systems CATIA V5, to complete assignments throughout the course. I am now highly proficient at designing new automotive parts, as well as developing original product designs via sketch to concept modeling.
"...must be able to use CAD & this will be an integral part of the company long term..." For my final project at Birmingham City University I designed an entire bodykit for a student Formula vehicle which, upon completion, was comparable Formula One. I feel that with my invaluable experience, I would be a great asset for your company.
I am an individual who believes that quality must lie at the root of everything we do. I am very enthusiastic, energetic, a quick learner, excellent speaker, a good team player, highly motivated, very reliable and cooperative. As my previous employers would vouch, my confident nature, coupled with my team working skills, has made me a natural leader amongst my peers.
I am extremely excited about this opportunity it has a definite appeal for me, both on a personal and career level. Enclosed is my curriculum vitae, as specified in your advertisement for your review. Should you have any questions or require clarification on any information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to meeting with you in the near future."

Open Question: Where is the "start inking" button in Microsoft Word 2007?
It's not showing up anywhere under my Reviews tab, so I added it to my Quick Access Toolbar. On the toolbar, the button is gray-ed out and won't let me click it, even though I have had my Wacom tablet plugged into the computer since before booting up. How can I get it to work?

At
this point there's no doubt what kind of world we live in. One that's
seriously based on technology and convenience. Hey, don't take this the
wrong way. I'm sure I'm not complaining. I absolutely love my compact
notebook computer, and don't see how I ever survived without it. Now,
obviously with the deluge of computers on the market now, it can be a
tad confusing which ones are the best and which ones should be avoided.
This is a tough question to address. You can always look to recent
computer reviews, but you should also keep in mind what you intend to
use your PC or Mac for.
I had a difficult time picking out my
very first laptop. My first instinct was to read numerous computer
reviews and proceed from there. Then I turned to my older brother, a
computer geek, and absorbed his input. He told me that I had plenty of
great PCs and Mac to choose from. It mostly depends upon personal
preference and what you need the computer for. Personally I wanted a
compact machine that kept things simple.
I wanted to be able to do things such as surf the web, write, send
emails, watch movie trailers, IM friends and family, and maybe watch a
DVD on occasion. I quickly learned that virtually any desktop or laptop
could accomplish all these things. Hmm, that sure doesn't narrow much
down. After reading a few more computer reviews on Macs and IBM
Thinkpads, I scrutinized the products in person. As it turned out, I
preferred the Mac Ibook G4. I felt and still feel that it's a bit
simpler to operate than a PC. Not to mention I never get a single
pop-up or virus.
Do some shopping around first. Read the most
current computer reviews regarding the machines you're interested in
and see what they're like in-person. You have to toy with them first.
Luckily they're all sitting out for you to mess with in Best Buy,
Circuit City and Mac stores. Get assistance from someone who
specializes in that area and ask oodles of questions. This way there
won't be any hidden mysteries with the PC or Mac you choose. Dive on
in; there is so much to choose from.
