The TV Internet Revolution

One of the factors that influenced the economic boom in China and the fall of the Soviet Union was the advent of TV. People in China, The Soviet Union and other eastern bloc countries were able to see how prosperous the western democracies had become and how relatively poor they were and they staged a revolution. And an almost bloodless revolution at that.
Now there is another wave of that revolution coming and it has to do with TV on the internet.
In a relatively short time from now it will be routine to watch programming generated in Hong Kong, South Africa, Poland or Australia from your home in Kansas.
The cause of this revolution will be free broadcast of this programming via the internet. It will have the effect of making our already shrinking world even smaller as people learn instantly about the thoughts and cultures of other people.
Hopefully this instant and free communication will bring about a greater understanding by people of each others differences as well as similarities.
Soon you won't have access to just 200 or so stations provided by your cable TV company. You'll have access to thousands of TV stations around the world. One of the amazing things is that you already have this ability right now. The only problem is that it is not quite as convenient as it might be.
For an idea of what watching TV on your computer is like, go to hulu or veoh. Both of those web sites provide free internet broadcast, but they don't provide an easy to use menu to find the program you want to watch. They direct your toward the programs they want you to watch.
