TV On The Web - It's Here Now PDF VersionPrinter Friendly Version

Perhaps you're one of the few people in the world that doesn't have an internet connection. You probably thought you weren't missing too much. Shortly though, with no internet connection, you'll be missing out on free TV reception....

Watching TV through an web connection. What a great idea! The benefit of it is that, like all web connections, TV through the web will be completely free of monthly payments. You'll only have to pay to get access to the net, not access to the TV.

The amazing thing is that when the world starts watching TV through the internet, a whole new wave of interactivity will blossom.

Instead of just watching a TV program, you'll be interacting with the program. Voting on Dancing With The Stars will be right there on your remote. You won't have to make a telephone call or go to your computer to vote. You can stay on your couch.

How about the direct response advertisements? You know, the ones where everything is only $19.95 and you get bonus after bonus? Those ads will probably be more effective than ever because they'll be more interactive. With just a flick of your wrist on your remote you'll be able to go the the advertiser's web site and find out more about the product.

Better yet, you'll be able to go to a forum regarding the product you just saw on TV and get other people's reactions to the product. You'll get free reviews of the product by real people who are really using it. Not just some TV promoter's hype.

You'll also be able to react to TV shows. What if the show you were watching allowed viewers to make comments on the plot? Maybe even change the direction the plot is moving?

How about news programs allowing people to post comments about the news of the day? The comments would be accurate, unedited and direct from people who are watching. It would be true democracy.
