Forgot Administrator Password? You Don't Have to Worry PDF VersionPrinter Friendly Version

If you forgot administrator password combinations in the past, you know the challenge of getting into the computer without it. One program now lets you fix the problem in seconds so you can get on with your day....

Did you know that approximately 40% of all the calls received by Windows technical support come from someone who forgot administrator password information and ended up locking up the system? That's a lot of calls for a problem that doesn't seem that bad. But if you're trying to access a computer at home or at the office that's protected by an administrator's password and you've forgotten that combination, the problem is definitely nothing to laugh at.

Solving the Problem Inefficiently

In most cases, calling technical support isn't going to provide you with many answers. They can't provide you with the missing password nor can they remotely reset your computer so you can access the data you need. Even if they could, you wouldn't want them to have that type of power - it's a security breach waiting to happen.

If you forgot administrator password combinations, you usually have two choices. You can completely reinstall the Windows operating system or you can reformat the hard drive of the computer. Both options are time-consuming. Both options are going to erase a great deal of data and settings that are probably needed. Both options will set you back, cause frustration, and end up being some of the efficient ways to handle the problem.

The good news is you may not have to worry about picking between those two bad options any more. A third option is available and could be a lifesaver in these types of situations.

The Software Solution

ElcomSoft System Recovery ( http://www.elcomsoft.com/esr.html ) is a better way of handling the "forgot administrator password" problem. With this software, you can create a bootable CD or USB Flash Drive easily using the authentic Windows Pre-installation Environment (PE). That means if you don't have the password at your disposal you can boot from the device and bypass the password so you can access the data you want or correct the password problems you have. For example, if a former employee left without giving you the password you need, ElcomSoft System Recovery can allow you to get access to the computer without reformatting that computer. From there, you can take actions to recover the original password or to create new accounts. You can even change who is the administrator on the computer.

The program works on a wide-range of systems and can even be used with multi-lingual passwords. ElcomSoft System Recovery ( http://www.elcomsoft.com/esr.html ) works with Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista, and Windows 2008 Server so it meets the needs of most offices and homes.

With the program, you won't have to worry about how to get into the system if you forget the password or if another employee disappears without giving you the information. You don't have to worry about reformatting the hard drive and losing everything you have saved. And you don't have to worry about losing access to important data, files, programs, and information just because you happened to be the one who forgot administrator password configurations for a particular computer. The software makes it easy to correct this problem in seconds without any lost data and with no stress or frustration required.
