The American condominium market has been on a steady rise in recent years. The National Association of REALTORS (R), American condominium increased their value with over 27% between 2000 and 2005 to average at around $ 163500. in the last two years, the economic turmoil in the country has seen the condominiums regain their demand momentum to exceed the initial boom recorded during the 1980's when condominiums became trendy.

Condominium are purchased by three groups of people namely, those who want to quit rent, those who want to buy a second home for part-time use and those who have retired and want to trade their high-end housing to one that requires low-maintenance.

Condominiums are not glorified apartments as many regard them. They can be a bargain purchase if the right circumstances, environment and condition is ensured. Condominium might not be ideal choices for people who hate living under rules and restrictions or in close proximity to other people. Otherwise, they can be the most exiting experience for you and your family.

By a condominium, we refer to those housing developments that assume the form and style of townhouses, apartment complexes, townhouses or multi-family dwellings. The difference between condominiums from other multi-tenant housing arrangements is the fact that individuals actually purchase the units of the building or complex instead of rent them. You end up owning part of the house and not the ground below it. You have no lawn or yard and this makes the condominium very cheap as compared to owning a stand-alone home.

After you buy a condominium, you acquire a title to a unit within the walls. That means that you will have to hare some facilities with other condominium owners such as stairways, gyms, rooftop gardens, parking and the like. The joint ownership of these amenities and the standard maintenance of the units, there is always need to appoint a condominium association, better known as the unit owners association. This association incorporates elected condominium units owners who help administrate communal interests in the community.
