Steps to Take to Solve Fertility Problems
By AndiBeark
Take a walk through Grant Park. Stroll the Magnificent Mile. Enjoy a visit to Navy Pier.
Anywhere that you go in Chicago, you are sure to see families enjoying everything the great city has to offer. The question burning in your mind is why not me. Couples experiencing problems with child birth live the pain of not being able to have a family each and every day.
Chicago fertility issues are no different than anywhere else in the country. Statistics show that one in every ten couples will have a problem conceiving a child. The good news is for most of those couples the problems can be easily corrected. A visit to a fertility clinic can provide most infertile couples the treatment they need to conceive. It could be medication like Clomid to boost the production of a woman's eggs or a medical procedure to open up blocked fallopian tubes. There are a number of things that trained professionals can do at an infertility clinic to help you have a child. Many of the procedures are low risk and relatively inexpensive.
Unfortunately, 15% of the couples battling infertility will not be helped by the basic treatments and will have to explore more complicated procedures. There have been amazing breakthroughs in the field in the past thirty years, dating back to the first test tube baby. Louise Brown was conceived in a test tube and was born in Britain in 1978; today she is raising her own son who was conceived naturally. The doctors who helped Browns' parents conceive used in vitro fertilization successfully for the first time; since then more than a million babies have been brought into the world in the same way.
IVF techniques have been improved over the years and have led to new alternatives like assisted reproductive technology or ART. One ART technique involves the injection of a single sperm into an egg which is then transplanted into the womb; doctors call it Intracytoplasmic sperm injection or ICSJ. Another common ART technique is appropriately known as GIFT, gamete intrafallopian transfer has been very successful in helping infertile couples conceive. In this technique, eggs are taken from the ovaries and placed into the fallopian tube along with sperm where fertilization occurs.
If you decide to visit a Chicago Infertility center to explore treatment options, do not be afraid to ask their success rates. You should also find out what type of support is offered to couples who are going through the difficult process of being unable to conceive on their own. The top fertility clinics have staff psychologists who counsel couples and offer support groups to bring together couples who are experiencing the same problems.
It may seem like everyone else in the world has children some times but you are not alone. Help is available if you are willing to take the steps necessary to solve fertility problems.
