As Halloween closed out, the stores all began carrying the holiday decorating items- some, already had them out. Each and every year, the season gets kicked off just a little earlier and you may be wondering what sort of holiday decorating ideas you'd like to bring into your own home. There are a few time tested classics that never go out of style and here, we'll go into just a few of the themes that have always held fast in the realm of holiday decorating ideas.

Classic Christmas: Some may picture mounds of Christmas wrapping paper all over and harried parents when hearing "Classic Christmas"- but this is actually a decorating style that has held fast. This is where you have the tree, decorated in random balls, lights, garland, the icicles (You know the ones. They get everywhere and you're supposed to keep them away from cats and vacuum cleaners.), and a pretty random sort of decorating. In this, you may have your handed down Christmas items, such as wall hangs and doilies, figurines and other assorted things that you have kept on hand for years. Often, this is seen in tandem with "keeping the kids busy on cold days" projects- popcorn strings, handmade dough ornaments, and construction paper ring chains.

Clean and Simple: This is often centered around two colors, rather than actually following a theme- and in that, it is a theme. Generally speaking the two colors have been red and green- but in recent years, the variations have become the different blends, such as emerald green, Burgundy, maroon, blue green, and so on and so forth. The reasoning behind red and green- there really is not one set traditional explanation. However, if you look at the color wheel, red and green are at complete contrast- which is a decorating standard. This can often times be one of the most inexpensive holiday decorating ideas, ever. Simply decorate using red and green. That's it. No need to rush and push for that coveted ornament when you're only using two colors, no need to go all out- two simple colors and your clean and simple decorating will be stunning nonetheless.

Rustic Christmas, or Down Home: This one is definitely a well used, generally inexpensive method of decorating for the holidays and "rustic" is a style that many use in generalized decorating year round. Why? Because with the wagon wheels, the carts, the folksy sort of blends, often using southern classic styles or Amish variations- this is a very inexpensive way to decorate and one that does hold a certain quaint charm. It is also one of the areas where crafters can find their handy know how comes to real use, and is easily integrated into decorating. Ideas and variations for the holidays include using real evergreen boughs, pine cones, checkered ribbons in green and red, and candy canes as decorating items as well as mason jars.
