Sure you can just go buy the fastest and best heater on the market, but it will be expensive and gas powered. This means expensive gas bills as well. Instead here is an above ground pool heaters plan to help you save money and still get great water temperatures.

You will be combining two types of heaters to make this work and one of them will cost you a few hundred dollars and the other a little bit more. The good part, though is that you will not spend much more than $20 extra dollars a month to run the heaters. It might even be cheaper depending on your area of the country and what the electric company charges.

The first above ground pool heater you need is a solar powered heater. You can actually find a plan to build one of these online and it is pretty easy to do. It will run you around $150 to $200 and will help you gain about 10 degrees when the sun is out. This is great for sunny days, but what do you do about days that are not so sunny and about the night time?

The other one of the above ground pool heaters that you need is an electric pool heater. This will be used for 2 t0 4 hours at night to help maintain the heat you want. It can also be used on overcast days and rainy days. This should be up on a timer so that it only runs for a few hours at night and does not run your electric bill up. You can put the solar heater on a timer to start with the sun coming up.
