If you want to have a floral home landscape, but are not sure on what to do to make them long lasting, go for the fire resistant plant materials. The good thing with them is that they will also be able to resist the scotching sun as well. This will make them look greener and healthier for longer. Maybe at this point you are wondering where such fire resistant material can be found. Make use of the local resources around you!

Visit extension officers and let them advise you on the types of plants that you can use for your home landscape. Some of the plants that are known to resist ignition to a high level are the aloe, the rockrose and the ice plant. If you may want to have some shrubs in your home landscape, consider getting the shrub apple type or the currant variety.

The advantage is that you will get to see them in all their varieties and you can also be able to see which colors can go along with the color scheme of your home. Once you have the plants, you can enhance their fire resistance by making sure that you create fire-safe areas in which you are going to plant them.

The fire-safe areas can be marked off or bordered by stone walls, concrete slabs or a swimming pool, which will more or less still function as a home landscape feature. More to this you need to keep your plants green at all times because as we very well know, green plants rarely catch fire. As such, consider installing an irrigation system. If the worst comes to the worst and your plants dry out completely, have them removed to minimize chances of them catching fire. You can always have them replaced with fresh ones. Better be safe than sorry.
