Although it is seasonal, organic gardening has the advantage of giving you time to rest while the soil rests too. With organic gardening you can take leave a few months on the year while the soils take a breath too. This is a good time to enrich the soil for the next planting season.

An organic garden is not time consuming. Most people have been led to believe that you will have to spend valuable time in the garden every single day. Most gardeners spend roughly one hour per week on their gardens depending on the size of the garden. You should be able to have a garden that you can manage. If you have been putting off the idea of a garden because it is time consuming then you need to reconsider. Now is a good time to start. You can still make time for your children and other commitments and have a garden that is fully bloomed and productive.

The cost of running a garden is one thing that makes many aspiring gardeners to put the idea off permanently or for sometime. The cost of organic gardening is not universal. It is dependent mainly on the space occupied by the garden. Roughly speaking, you may spend $350 per year on a garden that is 400 square feet. That is not too much, is it?

The rules of organic gardening are applicable to all who wish to venture into organic gardening regardless of the climate. The basic rules are good soil, enough sunlight and adequate water. The other rule that is indispensable is research. Without this rule, you will end up making a fool of yourself. You need to find out which plants herbs or flowers do best in your climatic region. This will give you better yield. Some plants may die in extreme weather conditions while others may be able to stand the climate. The climate of most parts in the world is good enough to sustain a bumper harvest. So long as the soil is enriched organically, a wide range of crops can survive.
