When engaging in home landscaping, it is wise to have a long-term goal for the features we are putting in place. You never know, making proper plans with the future in mind will go a long way in saving you a lot of trouble in days to come. Have you ever found that you put up a home landscape in a corner of your home compound only to find out later a few years down the line that it had to be destroyed?

Probably, you had not planned very carefully for it. Depending on the type of landscape you have, there are a few things you can do to make it more long lasting. If you have a floral landscape for example, that is one characterized by flowers and other plantations make sure that your choice of flowers is fire-resistant. You can do this by replacing all dense flammable plants with less dense and inflammable ones.

As a routine activity for your home landscaping maintenance activities, make sure that you get rid of all dead plant material like leaves and hanging branches. Get rid of many plants that seem to be taking up more space than necessary and trim those that need trimming. If you have any creeping plants that are near the house, make sure that they are well maintained and if they are flammable, make sure that are nowhere near a fire source.

Any dead plant materials or those cropping up under trees should be removed well in advance as a home landscaping measure. This is because in case of fire outbreak, they give a leeway for the ground fire to reach the crown of the trees. All shrubs and vines should be a distance of not less than 30 feet away form the house and at least ten feet away from each other. This would make it more difficult for them to be destroyed by fire.
