How to apply epoxy floor paint to your garage

Epoxy is tough which makes it long-lasting and great for garage floors. It will make the concrete floor resistant to oil and grease and what ever other substances that could mess up the concrete floor. However there are a few draw backs. The main one is that is can take a very long time to prepare the concrete floor for the epoxy paint. And preparing the floor is a very hard task to complete. Plus it may also require a lot of layers before it actually begins to work.
Before you even begin to paint the whole floor in your garage. You need to do a test area. The area you use to test with should be dry if the area is wet the water pressure will end up breaking the bond. You will need to remove oil spots and removing the grease from the floor. The next day you will have to fill the cracks of your floor.
If the floor in your garage gets wet easily it may not be a good job to use epoxy because it just won't bond. So always consider the weather and temperature of the area you will be applying the epoxy paint to your concrete floor.
Now its time to begin to prep the epoxy for the floor. Epoxy is a resin that comes in two different parts that you combine right before applying some where. Always be sure to wear gloves when mixing up your epoxy so that you can protect your hands and skin. Once you have finished cleaning up the concrete floor of your garage then you are ready to mix and paint the floor with a thin layer of epoxy. Most likely you will need to coat the floor at least two times. Let each coating dry over night so that it will remain even. Refer to the label on the epoxy to find out how soon the floor can handle food traffic. Normally the wait is about 16 hours. However you will have to wait three to five days before having your cars on top of the new epoxy painted concrete in your garage.
