Create custom made flower paper or stationery with paper scraps and flowers. The only ingredients you need to make pretty flower paper are water, paper and flowers. You can use fresh, dried or pressed flowers. You can add fabric, thread, ribbon and other ingredients to improve the look or texture of the paper. Add silk, satin or other shiny materials so the paper looks lustrous. You can add perfume, cologne or fragrant oil to make scented paper.

Collect paper like envelopes, mail, paper bags and receipts. Keep it in a recycling bin to make paper. You can also add fabric, ribbon, thread, flowers, leaves and herbs to your paper mixtures. Blend them in the paper pulp if you want them to be a part of the paper. Add them in the final stages of the paper making process if you want them to be embedded in the paper or on the surface of the paper. You can color the paper pulp with dye, ink or food coloring.

Mold and Deckle (2 Screens)

Two Dishpans

Several Cloths

For the mold and deckle you can use two window screens or staple screen tightly to two wood frames.

Tear the paper into two inch squares.

Soak the paper in a dishpan for 30 minutes or more.

Fill a blender halfway with the soaked paper.

Add warm water to the top mark.

Blend on medium speed until you don’t see pieces of paper.

Put this pulp in another dishpan.

Put the mold and deckle (or 2 window screens) in the dishpan.

Lift and lower the mold and deckle so the paper pulp collects on the screen.

Continue lifting and lowering the mold and deckle until the paper is a thickness you like.

Put some flower petals in the dishpan.

Lift and lower the mold and deckle until the petals are in the paper.

Lift the mold and deckle out of the water and separate the two screens so the paper is on top. Put a piece of material on top of the paper and press out the moisture.

Slowly turn the paper over onto another piece of material. Keep drying your paper by putting it between two pieces of material or towels and pressing.

Set it somewhere to dry. You can dry it between two cloths on a counter or table. You can dry it outside. The paper should be dry in a few hours. You can also iron it at a medium dry setting to help to dry it. Keep the cloths over and under it while you’re ironing and drying it.

Carefully separate the paper and material. Peel the cloth off the paper.

If you want to make scented paper add one to five drops of perfume, cologne or fragrant oil before you put the blended pulp in the dishpan.
