Save Money with These Helpful Budgeting Tips

Now more than ever it is important to follow a budget. A budget is easy to devise, but can be difficult to follow. Try these budgeting tips:
1. Buy canned food and boxed food to save money. Both of these types of food are priced considerably lower than other products.
2. Buy generic brands. The quality is just as good and in some cases better.
3. Make your home green. Contact your utility company about what you can do to save money on your utility bill each month. They will send you some instructions on what you need to do to make your home more energy efficient.
4. Make a shopping list. Plan out the meals that you want to eat. This will help you save money.
5. Don't go to the grocery store on an empty stomach. This is a budgeting tip that many people do not consider. You are more likely to purchase food that you don't need.
6. Set up bills on auto pay. This will help ensure that bills are paid in a timely and efficient manner. It also helps you to control what you are spending if you know that a withdrawal is about to come out of your account.
7. Put aside money for a rainy day. Dave Ramsey, a famous self-taught economist, advises that you should keep a minimum of $1,000 in a savings account in case of emergency.
8. Use coupons. You can usually find these in the Sunday edition of your local paper or they may come in your weekly mail ads. We use coupons to save $40-50 per month on our grocery bill.
9. Wash only full loads of clothes. This helps to save electricity and helps your clothes to last longer as well.
