The Best Size Photo to Put Onto Canvas Prints

The question of what size photograph is needed for canvas prints gets asked all the time. And the answer to this is, erm… Well its not that easy im afraid.

Unfortunately there are many different variables involved when transferring  photos to canvas . A while back i would have said that you need a high megapixel camera but nowadays a photograph from a mobile phone can look amazing on a 40 x 20 inch canvas.

The fact is that you can take a really bad picture using the latest megapixel camera and get really good photos from 6 year old digital cameras. A simple rule of thumb is that when you download the picture to your PC take a look at the size of it by right clicking it with the mouse and selecting properties. The bigger the size in pixels (eg 2000 x 1000) and the bigger the size (ie 500k - 2meg or bigger) the better. Any picture that is over 500k should be fine for printing though.
