It’s a girl’s world- Men reflect a changing social attitude toward feminine looks.

Long hair, a clean shave and a flawless complexion. Well, that’s the description of the quintessential Hong Kong male. Your hopes of becoming a TV star could might as well be plummeting down if you are the guy with the rugged looks.
Yes, it’s true, Hong Kong men are more conscious of their looks than earlier and they prefer to woo the girls with their clean looks. It is a proven fact as seen in surveys, that Hong Kong men are now spending as much on cosmetics and clothes as their counterparts from Venus.
There has been no stopping despite the disarray in global finances. According to research director Susanna Lam Fung-san, Men spend an average of HK$1,661 a month on perfumes, cosmetics and skincare products and an average of HK$1,005 per month on clothes and accessorizing.
The reason for this intrepid spending on personal items could be due to the fact that Hongkongers still have a average income higher than their Asian neighbors. The surprising fact is even the girls seem to be liking this new avatar. The ratings of the weekly TV drama “Boys over Flowers” are proof enough for it made women go gaga over the four kids having “pretty boy” looks.
This could prove as an opportunity which could prove to be a golden egg to the cosmetic industry.More men are getting behind the counter to help men be more comfortable in asking for their specific cosmetics and also helping women buy them for their boyfriends / husbands.
With this phenomenon on the roll, the market share of the male cosmetic industry is not just showing an ascent in the growth pattern but it’s got spill over affects in the plastic surgery industry as well.
