What is one thing every basketball player needs to do to have a successful career? The answer is increase your vertical leap. If you want to increase your jumping ability then you need to learn what the best exercises to jump higher are. By the time you are done reading this article you will know what the three best exercises to increase your vertical jump are and how you can utilize these exercises to jump out of the gym!

The Squat: Hands down this is the best exercise you can do to increase your vertical jump. Out of all the exercises to jump higher this is by far the best. The reason is because squats copy the motion of a jump allowing you to apply max force to that motion. For example, if you have a 150 pound man that can squat 100 pounds, that means he can apply 100 pounds of force to the ground. If you take that same athlete and have him increase his squat to 225 pounds you can guarantee he will be able to jump higher because he can now apply 225 pounds of force to the ground.

Power Cleans: Power cleans basically allow you to "turn on" your fast twitch muscles. Fast twitch muscles are one of the most important exercises to jump higher and run faster. This is because you can not perform a power clean properly moving slowly no matter how heavy the weight is because if you move to slow you will miss the weight.

Vertical Jumps:Yes, you read that right. One of the best exercises to jump higher is to do vertical jumps. I have seen so many athletes with great strength and yet have a horrible vertical jump mostly because their technique is horrible. I have seen gains up to 3 inches in athletes jumping ability in a week by just doing vertical jumps.
