If you play sports or even just watch them you know the athlete that can jump higher is the one with the advantage. If you are a basketball player you know this is true. If you can jump high you can grab all the rebounds and do some incredible dunks. Picture this, you are playing your rival team, there is 10 seconds left on the game clock and you are down by one. You steal the ball and are driving toward the hoop. with three seconds left you take off from way out side and throw one down! The crowd goes crazy. Now, there is no way that could happen if you didn't have hops.If you want to jump high you obviously need to workout to jump higher. Simple enough? In a second I am going to show you a great program to increase your vertical jump, but i wanted to talk to you about some mistakes most programs make.

Mistake Number 1: Doing Countless Reps Every Day
If you want to jump higher you need to be strong and explosive. How do you get strong and explosive? through heavy weight training. If you are doing anything over 8 reps you are not getting stronger nor are you getting explosive.

Mistake Number 2: Doing Isolation Movements
Isolation movements are the exercises that hit only one muscle group. Some examples include leg curls, leg extensions, calf raises, and even half squats. If you are doing any of these exercises it is important you stop wasting your time.

Mistake Number 3: Losing Hope
The second hope is lost you will never be able to make that last second dunk. Hope is the driving force of every action in our lives. If you hold on to hope you will be able to dunk, i promise.

So now that you know those three mistakes lets talk a bit about what program you should be doing. In all honesty any program will work as long as it does not make those three mistakes. You need a program that involves compound movement weight training.
