Curly Hair

Curly hair has become popular in recent years, after a period of time in which it was seen as less fashionable than it is now. Curly hair is synonymous with the nineteen eighties, when big hair and bold colours were at their height of popularity. After a period in the nineteen nineties and after the millennium where is remained less than popular, the look is now coming back. Curly hair is different from how it was in the past, however, as curly are now much easier to control. Defined curls, sometimes able to appear naturally on dark skinned women, are now a very popular look. The style can also be created with curling tongs, but can if fact be carried out just as easily with hair straighteners, as long as they are the ones with a rounded edge, as most straighteners are.

To create to look from hair which is naturally straight, the user should blow dry and heat protect their hair as they normally would. Although curlers can be used at this point, most people only own straighteners as they are much more popular and are easy to use, as they can be used to make hair both curly and straight. There is a choice at this point, whether the user wants to have loose, less defined curls. This wavy look is synonymous with the California beach hippy trend, and is very popular among glamorous young celebrities, as it is low maintenance and doesn't make the owner look as though they have tried too hard. To create this look the user should wrap their hair around the straighteners length ways, so that the curl will make the whole stand of hair bouncy and give it a distinct wave.

To create a tighter and more defined curl, which traditionally looks better with shorter hair, the user should wrap smaller strands of hair around the straightener iron and hold it for longer. This will create a tighter and more defined curl, in the style of ringlets.
