To avoid traveling at high speeds to get to your destination, leave plenty of time for your journey. The maximum speed limit on open roads is 80 km/h (49 mph). In built up areas the speed limit is generally 50 km/h (31 mph), unless a different one is indicated. We also advise you to not use a mobile phone when driving as this is prohibited and you need to always make sure that you are wearing a seatbelt as these are compulsory, for both front and rear seated passengers.
