Why Cooking Classes in Tuscany Are Getting Popular PDF VersionPrinter Friendly Version

When the subject of cooking comes up, there are only a couple of countries that immediately spring to mind: France and Italy. While the former is certainly a great option for a cooking vacation, for many people, Italy is preferable. And there's no better place to learn to cook than Tuscany, one of the world's most famous culinary destinations.

Why should you travel to take a cooking class, when they're likely offered right in your backyard? For one thing, the things you learn in Italy simply can't be duplicated overseas. It's kind of like New York Pizza; there's something magical about the food here.

A cooking vacation in Tuscany is also a great way to experience the culture firsthand. When you go to Florence to dive into museums, you'll be surrounded by tourists, and will have to dig deep if you want to experience the real Italian culture. Taking cooking classes is a great shortcut to get an inside view of the ways that Italians live their daily lives. Your class will take you into the markets where Etruscans shop, to bargain for the vegetables and meats that you'll put into your soon to be famous dishes.

There are plenty of different places to go, and each offers its own special take on cuisine. One idea is a trip to the walled city of Lucca. This can be a much more intimate vacation than one in Pisa, Milan, or Rome. This is a quaint place, where cars aren't allowed and most people go to work via bike. There's no way to have a more authentic, special experience in Italy.

Of course, Florence also beckons, with its fine tradition of wonderful cuisine. If you've never been to Italy before, combining a sightseeing tour with a week-long cooking class is a great way to experience the country for the first time. The city has its own special Florentine dishes that are particular to the city. Or perhaps you would rather pair one of the many cooking holidays in Chianti with some wonderful wine from the region.

Wherever you go, you'll be amazed by how much you can learn in the span of one short week. This will be unlike any other class you've ever taken. Rather than sitting at a desk and taking notes, Tuscany cooking classes encourage direct participation. Dig your hands deep into the dough as you learn to make fresh, hot bread, and learn the intricacies of creating the perfect lasagna.

These are lessons that you'll take back to your own country and enjoy for decades to come. Just be prepared to deal with the deluge of people that show up at your home, expecting you to cook an extravagant Tuscan feast!

A cooking tour through the northern region of Italy is a vacation that you'll remember for the rest of your life. Tuscany is a land of enchanting food and wine, and by immersing yourself in education, you'll become a part of it for as long as you choose to stay.
